The Lake

It’s incredibly hard to not feel peace at the lake.

We had beautiful weather and awesome company. The kids and the dogs all had a blast swimming and riding the four wheelers on the trails (well, the dogs had a blast chasing the four wheelers down the trails).

Nolan even went fishing in the boat with his daddy, uncles, and cousin and caught fish for our fish fry. They had a massive snapping turtle snag a fish right off the line, so they got to see it up close.

Ivy surprised us immensely with how well she behaved and stuck around. She adored the lake, kept me company when I swam out to the docks and tried to follow the boys when they rode in the paddle boat. She had a little issue with her table manners (all those people with food near her face), but aside from that she was damn near perfect. We’ve been told that she could not be off leash as her recall sucked and she would chase after anything. A few times she got distracted but she always came back when called.

I seriously love it there, so much. The only thing that sucked just a little was Archer’s lack of sleeping. He cried the majority of both nights and refused to let me leave his side. This didn’t make for a good night’s sleep for me.

We headed home last night, but definitely plan on going back soon for a longer stay.
