Schools Out For Summer!

It’s that time of year again!

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, no more early wake ups! No more scrambling to make breakfast, pack lunches, dress kids and get out the door!

On the other hand…two kids are more chaotic than one. There will likely be more arguing and less sanity.

This is our first summer vacation as a family with a kid in school, as Nolan has finished his first year of junior kindergarten.

Last Day of school

It’s been surreal having a school aged child, a whole different ball game.

Nolan’s report card was great! We were so proud of him, he’s come a long way since the beginning of the school year. He’s gotten bigger, obviously, but he’s learned a lot and grown as a person as well. He won an award for being a great friend, and he’s doing amazing in math and sciences. He can read 10 out of 13 sight words, and we struggled a lot with that at first.

We’ll continue to work on, well…everything. His school sent home homework for us to work on over the holidays, which helps as I was going to buy a bunch of SK workbooks.

We picked Nolan up from school early and our summer began with a lovely afternoon enjoying the sunshine and the pool.

Today we are going to a BBQ and hanging out with my family. Dogs are invited which makes me giddy because how could I leave these pooches alone? Just look at those faces…

Also the kids tried to wake up at 6am, and I was like “nope…not having that. Back to bed” and here’s the crazy thing… they actually listened.

Which basically means this summer is already off to a great start!

  1. I miss being able to do this little dance as a kid. Although, I am freaking out a little bit about starting to homeschool the boys. I have NO idea how that is going to go. 🙂
