Hiatus

I’ve been on a wee bit of a blogging hiatus. Stuff has been intensely crazy lately. I am trying to get back to writing regularly, but every time I sit down to blog all hell breaks loose.

I’ve got some random updates that I’ll fire out now while things are quiet.

☆ I had another girl join my Scentsy team! Two girls in one month. Business is growing and that’s exciting! I’m nearly at my goal PRV, so if you ever want to shop…. visit my Scentsy website! Don’t forget to check out the closeout section in specials for on sale items.

☆ I am in the process of getting both boys in to Grandview Childrens Centre for occupational and physio therapy. First things first…I need to renew Archer’s health card. Yup, totally forgot to do that before his birthday. That’s Monday’s chore!

☆ I’m also demanding the school give him an IEP to accomadate the fact that Nolan has a disorder…so that if and when he needs extra resources, we can get them without a fight or a thousand questions of why.

☆ Archer is on a waitlist for speech therapy. He doesn’t have as many words as he should, despite us working with him daily. He knows what I’m saying and can identify colours and some letters and numbers, but won’t say it. We’re obviously still going to continue working with him, but at least I feel better knowing that he’s on the waitlist.

☆ Nolan has his first birthday party today, one of his classmates. Of course the weather is terrible and I do not want to go, but I also don’t want to be the only one to cancel. And if everyone else did…his poor classmate would be so sad. Either way, I’m going to make Matt drive us for a bit. There is absolutely no way in hell I’m driving in that!

☆ My depression and anxiety has been so bad the last several months. I finally got my prescription for Zoloft filled. It’s my second day of taking it, so there’s no telling if it works yet.

☆ I was going to go to school. I was even accepted into the program and about to go in to apply for OSAP. But then I decided not to…you know, since I have terrible follow-through. Plus I’ve finally got a specialist appointment in February, and who knows how quickly my surgery will be booked. I was supposed to start the course (Medical Office Admin) in February. But this college is also a private college and the tuition was double government funded colleges which makes me nervous. Plus I think it would be better to wait to 2015. Hopefully by September my surgery will be done with and I’ll be able to commit.

☆ Speaking of appointments, I also got an appointment at Mount Sinai’s chronic pain clinic. It’s for March. Can’t believe how quick that was, I was told the waitlist is up to 2 years. I hope that they’ll be able to help me.

So, yeah. That’s what’s been going on lately. What about you???

  1. You, girl, are amazing. Given all that you are juggling I am impressed that you can manage to write your name, never mind the occasional blog post! When I had kids my writing “hiatus” lasted about 18 years!

Very good to see you here. What’s been going on with me, you asked? Bloggin’, workin’, readin’, parentin’, etc. I’ve been doing a fair number things, I suppose. What have I NOT been doing? An infinite number of things. We do the best we can, I’d say.

Happy to see you’re back. Also happy to see you’ve gotten an appointment at the pain clinic! That’s definitely a step in the right direction. IEP’s are really confusing and there’s a lot of red tape- they typically won’t even give official IEP’s until grade 3 in Ontario. You’ll have to go through an IPRC meeting and meet a bunch of qualifications to even be considered. I don’t know if you know, but in my spare time from being a nanny I’m actually a teacher (not kidding- job market just sucks here so I nanny). If you need any help on how to get started send me an email. I’ve mostly dealt with IEP’s for kids with intellectual and cognitive delays but I can definitely help you out with Nolan’s. Good luck!
