I definitely do not remember a storm like this one. I’m sure this isn’t the first time Southern Ontario has been hit with a doozey of one, nor will it be the last, but I do think that in previous storms, I lucked out and we didn’t feel the effects of it quite to the extent of this.
We haven’t had power since Friday Saturday (sorry I totally muffed up my days) at 11pm, not so much as a flicker! We bounced around a bit yesterday, from our MILs to my sister’s and home for sleeping. We were going to stay at my sister’s but she also didn’t have power and I knew the kids would sleep better in their beds.
I was hoping we’d wake up to power, but we didn’t. Several streets in our area are still powerless and have been just as long as we’ve been. My MIL has power again, hopefully for good.
Apparently it might be another day or so until we get power. Finding answers has been difficult but we are good! Safe and warm (for the time being).
I just wish this would end so I could finish wrapping presents…holy first world problems.
But you know what? I know we are okay and safe and no damage has been done to our home, so we are lucky…but I’m so over seeing the Facebook posts telling people to stop complaining about “not being able to watch tv or charge electronics”. Personally? I haven’t given a rats ass about either of those things. We’ve been able to keep our phones charged by our truck, and the only reason I’ve been moderately concerned about phones is in case of emergency and staying in touch with family during this. My main concern is how cold it is out, and in our house, and the fact that we really don’t have a budget to restock our fridge and likely will have to do just that. Too bad fridges don’t stay as cold as the rest of the house when the power is out. Not to mention we have no clue when it will be back on.
I know it could be worse, but honestly? Stop telling people who have been without power for days to stop complaining.

Wow. I heard about that ice storm in Canada but didn’t know you were in that. I took a big break from the Internet while hubby was off work & missed a lot. Your pictures are something! I’m sorry you were affected by that. It must’ve been awful. You may think you complain but I think you take a lot of things in stride. I would be worried about the water pipes bursting. I’m glad you had somewhere to go, even just to warm up. As for the people who don’t want complaining, they need to stay off social media. š If you’ve lived through something, you’re entitled to talk about it.
Exactly my thought! The social media police make me laugh. If you didn’t actually create the platform I don’t think you have a say in how people use it š
And yeah, I was really worried. We had to throw out like ALL our food and we’d just did a big shop so that was a huge chunk of money down the drain, in addition to the pipes freezing fear and worrying about the dog (because we couldn’t often bring him to our warm up places). Sigh. It was shitty!
We actually had another scare where the forecast called for more freezing rain…luckily it wasn’t as bad but still! We’d just done the shopping again haha.
